DIY Dynamic Balancer

Building your own DIY dynamic balancer is easier than you might think. Galassia Technologies offers the individual hardware, sensors and software needed to create a custom balancing system for motors, propellers, fans, impellers, wheels, shafts and other rotating components.

At the heart of the system is the Impulse 2, a computer-based dynamic balancer and vibration analyser. Connect one or two Galassia accelerometers to measure rotor vibration, then add an IR or laser RPM sensor to provide rotational speed and phase information.

You can then build your own rotor support structure or use Galassia's Titan DIY Balance Cradle, which provides a low-friction suspension system specifically designed to allow rotor imbalance to be measured.

Once the rotor is spinning, the sensors send vibration and rotational information to the Galassia software. The software measures the magnitude and position of the imbalance and helps determine where corrective weight should be added or removed.

A typical DIY system can therefore be assembled from:

Impulse 2 + vibration sensor(s) + RPM/phase sensor + rotor cradle + Galassia balancing software.

The modular approach means you can start with a simple balancing setup and expand it later into a more capable single or two-plane dynamic balancing system.

Whether you're experimenting in your workshop, balancing drone motors and propellers, developing rotating machinery or building your own balancing machine, Galassia's range of accessories provides the building blocks to create a system tailored to your application.
